Bundle Up!

Having spent the last four years in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where it’s winter from November to April, I’ve come to learn a thing or two about winter outerwear and staying warm.  With cold fronts blowing across the country this week (It snowed in New Orleans!), it’s a great time to buy a new jacket.  No matter how cold it gets where you live, there’s a jacket or coat that will keep you warm.

One of the most versatile and popular jackets out there is The North Face Denali Jacket and this season it also can even come with a hood. The Denali Jacket is a simple fleece that  comes in a variety of colors including black, white, even orange! It also comes in Girls’s, Boys’s, Women’s, and Men’s sizes. You can also get matching gloves! If you live where you need something heavy-duty to battle the elements with The North Face offers the Triclimate Jacket. This three-in-one jacket has a removable waterproof outer shell as well as a removable fleece liner. So for whatever the weather conditions are, rain, sleet, snow, or just plain cold, you’re sure to be prepared. But if you’re STILL cold, I would consider a parka. Your friends may make fun of you for looking like the Michelin man, but believe you me, you will be the warmest of them all. I speak from experience, I had a ankle length parka. It was like wearing a comforter, my friends were jealous upon realizing this.

But a lot of people don’t want to look as if they’re about to hit the slopes. If you’re looking for something a bit more stylish consider a leather jacket. There are a variety of styles, colors, and leather for both men and women. For women a fitted leather jacket can easily become a staple piece in a wardrobe. However, I must admit my personal favorite type of coat is the peacoat. It’s simple, lots of buttons, and perfect to wear a fun scarf with.

So no matter where you live or who you’re shopping for, you have plenty of choices this winter season!
