With so many stores offering a variety of styles and advanced features for dog beds, it is difficult to decide which one is best for your furry friend. Here are a few things to think about:
Size: Most dogs like to curl up when they sleep, especially in the winter. Don’t get a very large dog bed which has a lot of space for a medium or small dog as your dog might feel cold in it. A cozy bed with a cushion at the bottom may be more inviting, especially in winter. Donut dog beds or bagel dog beds are a good choice if your dog likes a lot of cushioning.
Age: If your pet is older, a thermal dog bed would ease aches and pains during the cold season. Invest in a good quality, safe thermal dog bed that will last long. If your dog is older, you don’t need to worry about her/him chewing or shredding the bed, so get one with good features that will provide comfort.
Where does your pet sleep: Does your dog sleep in the crate, on the floor next to your bed or on a sofa or pet cot. If your dog likes to sleep on a raised surface, think about a cot or a raised pet bed. Would the bed need to fit into the crate? Some stores offer special luxury furniture for pets, with plush chairs that have a convenient head rest for your dog.
Pet Tent: Pet tents are available for both small and big dogs. These are good if your dog like to huddle within and would feel more secure with a cover over him/her. Remember, your pet may not be able to see you if he/she is in the tent, so if your dog has separation anxiety or needs to see you, he/she will not use the tent.
Some dogs don’t like the cushion and will dig it out and start chewing on it. Just stow it away if your dog is more comfortable in the bed without the cushion. Add a light blanket as a cover over your pet instead. When the bed wears out or the sponge breaks, you can use the cushion as a replacement.
To prevent chewing, use a bitter apple spray on the bed to prevent your dog from chewing or dragging it away in all the excitement and playfulness.
If you are going to travel with your dog in the car, consider taking the bed with you. Your dog will feel more relaxed and at home with the familiar smell and sight of his/her bed.

For Christmas we got a new girl puppy for our daughter, it’s a mix that we got at the local kennel for free. She has alot of dashhound and has short legs but is cute and very lovable puppy. A good freind recommended using disposable bed pads for indoor potty training. We ordered a couple of bags on line and it only took a day to get her trained. These bed pads are great, they dodn’t leak to the floor, it sure is better than using newspaper. homedeliverymedical.com is the site that wee got these from, go to http://www.homedeliverymedical.com
