As much as I’d hate to admit it, (because I enjoy having only to carry one gadget) the cameras that  cell phones are equip with just don’t make the cut. Sure, they work great for taking mug shots of all your friends for your address book, granted it is taken in a well-lit area within reasonable distance; but with the lack of optical zoom, the camera is deemed insufficient for documenting vacations, birthdays, weddings or any other significant event in life.
