Putting together a solid home theater system can be a daunting experience. There are just so many choices out there, it can be a little intimidating at first. Desiree has already written a good overview on the subject, in her Home Theater System post, so take a look at that if you haven’t already. In this post, I’ll make my own recommendations for home theater system components.
Basically, when it comes down to it, there are just two main components that go into making a home entertainment system: the audio and the video. Now, there are a lot of choices and different combinations when it comes to these components, but it’s important to keep in mind that a home theater system is basically just these two pieces.
On the audio side of the equation, it’s hard to compete with market leader Bose. Bose home theater system audio components are some of the best when it comes to creating a realistic, surround sound experience. Bose is known in the audio industry for its great sound quality, and Bose’s home entertainment set can be customized to fit your room, and give you a sound experience that makes you feel like you’re in a movie theater.
Now when it comes to the video side of things, there are two main options. One way is to go the hdtv route, buying a giant wall-mountable flat panel tv that you can use as your main video feed. While this is the standard approach, an alternative option that’s gaining in popularity is getting a giant screen and using a home cinema projector like the Sony BRAVIA VPL-AW10 to create a true movie theater experience. When it comes to home theater systems, size does matter, and with a projector screen, you can get screen sizes that are larger than even the biggest LCD HDTVs.
Whether you choose to go the HDTV route or the projector route, if you get the above components, you will be well on your way to having a kick-ass entertainment center. Of course, the final touches to any home theater system is a comfortable setting with nice lighting and comfortable seating. That, I leave up to you.
