How Much Perfume Should I Apply?

perfume_sprayHave you ever found yourself in a situation where you feel like you have to wear a gas mask because someone’s perfume is so strong? It’s not very pleasant if you ask me. Wearing excessive perfume can be very uncomfortable and overwhelming for people who spend long periods of time in close contact with you.  Sometimes we become unaware of the scent of our own perfume and, in turn, begin to use more and more of it each day. This phenomenon is called sensory habituation. Our sense of smell quickly becomes fatigued and we don’t realize that the scent is still there and is unpleasantly strong for others. Don’t let this happen to you! Remember: when you go to crowded places there will be a large number of other scents floating in the air competing with each other. So be careful! Here are some useful tips for you to take into consideration:

  • Blondes with lighter skin tones tend to have a dryer epidermis where as brunettes with darker skin tones tend to have an oilier epidermis. Fragrances last longer on oily skin, therefore, applying less perfume than normal is highly recommended for you brunettes out there.
  • For those with fairer skin, we recommend using a fragrance free moisturizer rather than continually reapplying perfume for a longer lasting impression. The perfume oils tend to be absorbed by the skin this is why people with dry skin want to add a moisturizer.                       dvs1496201
  • When in public, people should not be able to smell your perfume from farther than an arm’s length away from your body. Sometimes this is referred to as the perfume bubble.

I hope you found these tips helpful!
