Style icon Nicole Richie’s House of Harlow 1960 Jewelry Collection is a perfect expression of the star’s love of the rich-hippie-meets-ancient-culture style she does so well. It’s a look that takes her outfits from very nice to totally smashing. If you admire Nicole’s fashion sense and love her use of color, you will probably love her jewelry line, too.
If you want to look like Nicole, this collection of 35 personally inspired pieces will help you do it. Choose from necklaces, bracelets, rings, earrings and headbands made of fabric, leather, metal, resin, rivets, chains and silk strings. Priced from $12-$150, the House of Harlow 1960 Collection was designed for teen girls and young women who enjoy combining the unusual with the tasteful in jewelry to create a completely unique look.
Don’t let being over thirty stop you from looking. Any of the House of Harlow jewelry items will add instant impact to your outfits, regardless of age. And these pieces will look as good with jeans as they will with your most glam cocktail dress.
The highlights of the collection, for me, are the wide cuffs to adorn upper arms, and necklaces with enough pizazz to take any well-done outfit from impressive to electric. These are attention-getting pieces, not designed for those who prefer to remain in the background. And although the impact is strong, it is not in the least overwhelming.
Nicole’s bangles are a good choice if you like unique bracelets but want to avoid the Egyptian look of cuffs. Teens will probably love the colors and Aztec-inspired designs. The feather earrings are not actually made of feathers, but of yellow gold and crystal stones shaped like feathers, also very original. The earrings are a simple way to add drama to your outfit without adding anything else.
The gold headbands and headpieces are a bit too Woodstock for me, but your inner princess may love them. Nicole’s head-wear is the closest you can get to wearing a tiara without crossing the line into actually wearing one, and I suspect these headbands may look adorable on pre-teen girls.
And while I don’t like big rings, well, unless of course we’re talking engagement rings here, Nicole’s unusual, African-inspired styles are, if nothing else, absolutely one-of-a-kind. I do love her smaller rings though, especially the Thin Rose Gold Antique and Palladium Antique rings.
It is rumored that Nicole plans to add sunglasses to her collection, as well as belts and shoes. I expect she will be exactly in her element with sunglasses, if only because she already wears the best. For a closer look at the House of Harlow 1960 Collection, visit Kitson shop.
