Last year I visited three local mattress stores to find my perfect mattress. Since I didn’t win the lottery I had to settle for a spring mattress even though I really wanted a foam mattress. The foam mattress was surprisingly firm but only after a while of laying on it did my shoulder and hip really feel the foam become softer and create a mold. I love that mattress.
If you are price conscious like I was, try using your old mattress and splurge on a 3-inch memory foam quilted mattress topper. This way you can have the comfort of the foam body molding with the price of a spring mattress.
The top reasons to buy a 3-inch memory foam quilted mattress topper is that it’s:
- thick enough to support your back if you are a back sleeper and supports your waist if you are a side sleeper
- quilted cover keeps you cool during warm nights and reduces night sweats
- easily fits under “thick” fitted sheets
- cheaper than buying a whole foam mattress
Do you already own a memory foam mattress topper? Tell me what you think about it and how your nights are more comfortable.

I bought the one from Costco and it was better than the old mattress by itself but not as good as I was hoping it would be. I think foam density should be around 4 lb. for best results.
