If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably had an “accident” or two in the kitchen. Cooking for me is a struggle, to put it mildly, and putting together anything more complex than a peanut butter sandwich usually results in a disaster. I’ve even been known to burn soup.
Being as challenged as I am when it comes to culinary matters, the range hood has quickly become my best friend. A range hood, also known as an extractor hood or ventilation hood, is a device that’s installed in the kitchen, which contains a fan that helps clear the air of any smoke, odors, or grease– perfect for cleaning up after my latest cooking disaster.
Of course, if you have a nice looking kitchen (mine probably doesn’t qualify), you probably don’t want a nasty looking vent hanging above your stove. That’s where ductless slide out range hoods come in.
A ductless slide out range hood does not need to be connected to a duct in order to operate, so you don’t need a ventilation system in place to use it. The slide out design of the range hood also means that it disappears nicely when not in use, and you only need to bring it out in the event of an “accident.”
Ductless slide out range hoods come in different styles and sizes to fit any kitchen. Some slide under cabinets, while others can be mounted onto the wall or ceiling. There are also advance ductless slide out range hoods, like the Whirlpool Gold GZ7736XGS that are remote controlled, retracts automatically when not in use, and features 3 different fan speeds to match the disaster level.
Another thing to consider when looking at a ductless slide out range hood is how effective it is at clearing the air. One important thing to consider is the speed and size of the fan, and another is whether the range hood contains a filter. Some ductless range hoods just move the air around, while others actually help clean the air through the use of charcoal filters. Obviously, a range hood with a filter is best, just be sure to replace the filter every so often to ensure that it remains effective.
Once you have a ductless slide out range hood installed, you’ll have the peace of mind in knowing that you’re covered in case your next foray into cooking turns out to be a lot more smoky than you intended. It’s almost as good an investment as a cooking lesson.
