A bike that does not weigh a ton is a great quality for any type of bike. Whether it is a mountain, bmx, or fixed gear bike, lightweight components make the ride smoother and enjoyable. I personally own a fixed gear bike and can honestly say that it feels like it weighs next to nothing when I’m doing tricks or loading it onto my car. When it comes to mountain bikes, it’s an entirely different story compared to fixed gears because they’re constructed of much heavier components to sustain the ride through a rough terrain. Although they’re known for being the heaviest of all forms of bicycles, lightweight mountain bikes do exist. The Cannondale F9 bike is made up of a lightweight T6061 aluminum frame and includes an RST Capa suspension that softens the shock on rough surfaces. Whether your are a novice or expert, this 8-speed bike is sure to be reliable on those adventures.
Another great bike that is more advanced is the Scott Scale 60 mountain bike. This 9-speed bike is made of 7005 aluminum and has a Rock Shox Tora SL Coil suspension.
If you’re in the market for a brand new bike or are looking for an upgrade to do work on those mountains, either one of these lightweight mountain bikes should suffice your needs. They’re strong enough to battle the rough terrain and weigh light enough for you to load it onto your car with no issues.
