If you’ve seen CSI (Crime Scene Investigators) before, you’ve probably witnessed the decisive scene where the investigators will watch a surveillance video on a closed circuit TV that reveals vital clues as to the perpetrator of a crime.
While your day-to-day life may not be nearly as exciting, if you’re a home or shop owner, you may still want to invest in a closed circuit surveillance system. Having a security monitoring system in place gives you the peace of mind that you’ll have video footage, in case anything goes amiss with your home or business, and just having a surveillance camera in place is often enough to deter would-be criminals.
One of the most important pieces of a home surveillance system is a closed circuit TV, and a company by the name of CSi Speco (no relation to the TV show) makes several such monitors that you can use to track what is going on around your property.
The Speco VM-905C monitor, for example, is a 9-color CRT (cathode ray tube) TV that can easily be hooked up to any surveillance system. With over 500 TV lines, the quality of the display is top-notch, and the monitor weighs only 20 pounds, despite its generous 9 inch color display.
The Speco VM-905C has a wide range power source, from 90-260 volts, which makes it flexible enough to use in both the US and abroad. The Speco also features a dual-comb filter and front panel controls for reliable picture quality and easy of use.
Although in recent years, CRTs have fallen out of favor compared to the now ubiquitous LCD, there are still CRT monitors such as the Speco VM-905C that get the job done, and often for lower cost than LCD equivalents. Don’t let the boxy appearance of the Speco VM-905C fool you– it’s got enough features to be the tool of choice of any crime scene investigator.
