Tips for Identifying Vintage Perfume Bottles

vintage perfumeThe making of perfume bottles used to be more labor intensive than it is now. Today we can mass produce perfume bottles with machines in mere minutes, when it used to take hours to make them by hand. If you have acquired some perfume bottles and you want to know if they are considered a vintage and worth some money, here are some things to look for:

  • Bottle made out of lead crystal.
  • Glass dauber stub holds the top in place and used for large spot perfume application.
  • Cork stub holds the heavy top in place and perfume in.
  • Glass dip stick attached to the top used for spot or swiping perfume application.
  • Atomizer cushion pushes air and perfume out.
  • Acid etched insignia or foil sticker on bottom of bottle.
  • Bottle shape is small or can’t stand on it’s own like a tube or vile.
  • Bottle is unsymmetrical or misshapen.

Does your perfume bottle have any of these qualities? If so, there is a possibility that your perfume bottle might be a vintage Czechoslovakian, Victorian or French bottle of perfume.
