I was absolutely ecstatic. My sister, Ria, had just delivered a baby girl – the first baby of the next generation. We were planning to throw a party to celebrate as soon as the baby (yet to be named) was brought home. We also needed to take a photograph of the four generations- my 71 year old grandmother, 51 year old mother, 26 year old sister and my newborn niece! We were expecting our extended family in the neighborhood to attend the party.

However, before all that, we had decided to prepare Ria’s house for the homecoming. She left for the hospital in such a hurry that her house was a mess. Ria’s husband was with her at the hospita, so we cleaned her house and the baby’s room for them. Luckily, Ria had already bought some of the essentials for the baby because she would be discharged only the next day.

I was feeling absolutely restless after seeing the baby. I had already bought her a few dresses as a present but that just did not seem sufficient. For the lack of anything better to do, I started browsing the internet for presents to buy for the baby. That was when I came across the perfect gift idea – baby diamond earrings. However, I was finding it difficult to choose amongst three pairs:

After consulting my mother, I decided to buy the 14 karat yellow gold earrings, which had 2 round diamonds of .08 ct weight. The earrings were fastened with screw backs. I am sure my niece will appreciate the gesture when she grows a little older. After all, diamonds are a girl’s best friend!
