Bookcase Tips

If you’re a book lover like me, you probably already have a bookcase or two to store your collection of favorite tomes. Even if you don’t have a large collection of books, however, bookcases can still be handy little piece of furniture to have in your room or your home. Here are a few tips for making use of bookcases:

  • Bookcases

Movies – Not everyone likes to read books, but almost everyone likes movies. If your DVD or BlueRay collection is starting to pile up on the floor, a bookcase can make a great place to store and organize them, since DVD cases are close in size to books.

  • Music – Another related idea is to use bookcases to store your music. This generally works best with smaller bookcases, where you can store your collection of CD jewel cases in way that’s visually appealing and easily accessible. That’s assuming you still listen to physical CDs, of course.
  • Magazines – Even if your book collection is virtually non-existent, you’re likyl to subscribe to a magazine or two. Rather than let old mags go to waste or collect dust in the recesses of your closet, you can organize them with a bookcase so that you can easily go back to read older issues.
  • Decorations – If you’re having trouble finding things to fill your bookcase with, bookcases also make a convenient stand for your statues, bookends, and other decorations. Try adorning your bookcase with a glass vase full of flowers, and watch it brighten up the entire room.
  • Books – There’s no getting around it. If you’ve got a nice looking bookcase in your house, there’s no better use for it than a good old-fashioned book, or two, or ten. Whether your taste lies toward fiction, non-fiction, or the latest Dan Brown thriller, a good book will keep you company and enrich your mind. Try it, they’re good for you.

Those are just a few of the uses for a bookcase. If you know of any other novel ways of using bookcases, let me know in the comments.
