Celebrating The 400th Anniversary of Galileo’s Telescope

galileos-telescopeI was just informed that today we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s telescope.  Exactly 400 years ago today, on August 25 1609,  Italy most celebrated astronomer and philosopher Galileo Galilei showed his new creation, the telescope,  to the world.  Galileo was not the first one to invent the telescope, but he was the first one to use it systematically to observe celestial objects. It is said that he used his telescope to record his discoveries. He viewed Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and the milky way.  Galileo was a very ambitious scientist who revolutionized our understanding of astronomy. Thanks to Galileo’s early experiments, today we use his early discoveries as the foundations for modern physics.

Since we are celebrating the 400th anniversary of Galileo’s telescope and his great celestial discoveries, I would like to mention a  few reviews on  classic telescopes.

  • The Orion Brass Classic Hand Telescope makes distant vistas come alive with sharp detail. The body of this telescope is a classy piece of work. The material is made of polished brass and smartly trimmed with a faux leather jacket for a sure grip. Feel like a Galileo with this classic telescope!
  • If you want to view Saturn just like Galileo did, the Solid Brass Telescope can an view anything from cityscape to Saturn, and everything in between. You can also view detailed viewing of the moon. The telescope’s fully coated 80mm objective lens provides brilliant, razor-sharp images at a 36x magnification.
  • The blend of art and science are the main components of the Orion Aristocrat Executive Brass Telescope. This compact telescope fits wonderfully on a desktop, shelf, or mantel. This aristocrat telescope features a 50mm doublet objective lens and continuous zoom magnification from 15x to 45x.

Lets continue celebrating the brilliant discoveries of  Galileo Galilei!
