When I was still a student several of my friends had to purchase shower curtains at the beginning of each school year to replace the old one that they had used the previous year. It was a rather simple task; remove the old one and install the new one. However, the worst situations were the times they would move into completely new apartments where the previous owners would just leave their old, moldy shower curtain behind. In this case, removing the shower curtain required gloves and other forms of protection. Luckily for me, the showers in all the apartments I’ve ever lived in during college had sliding doors, so I never dealt with the unfortunate events my friends had to go through. But, I must admit, having a shower curtain can be kind of cool, in the sense that you’re able to decorate and customize your bathroom.
If it was my shower, I’d definitely want some outrageous colors. Something along the lines of a striped shower curtain. For no apparent reason, really. Only because it’s different and fun. Besides, I think seeing various vibrant colors in the morning would be a great way to start the day! Take a look at the Rickrack Stripe shower curtain for inspiration.
If you want to go for a more conservative look, go for a solid-colored shower curtain like the Greenwich Fabric shower curtain.

Seek a color or design that represents you and your style, and don’t be discouraged if you have to remove that old, moldy shower curtain. Getting rid of it and installing a new one will be all worth it in the end.

Last year I had to move out of my campus apartment to get different roommates. I actually had a icky shower curtain liner that I just had to toss. But luckily the fabric shower curtain was in good shape. I just tossed it in my parents clothes washer and now it smells nice and fresh. And it has various colors like what you were talking about.
