The cusp of spring is always an awkward time, weather-wise. Within the past week, we’ve experienced both abundant sunshine and hard downpours. Other than quickly making weather.com one of my most frequently visited sites, the fickle nature of the in-between season is also starting to take its toll on my wardrobe.
One thing I can always count on for the transition from winter to spring? A blazer.
The blazer’s been a wardrobe staple to anyone from fashion editors to style icons like Alexa Chung and Kate Moss, and it’s not hard to see why: It’s nearly universally flattering and it can provide an instant touch of cool with minimal effort. It comes in a myriad of styles, shapes and cuts – long, lean, oversized, fitted, double-breasted or single buttoned – to complement any closet.
That being said, here are some of my favorite women’s blazers to act as the perfect transition piece for spring’s sunny days and cooler nights.
Gap Academy blazer: A modern day version of the classic schoolboy style, this women’s blazer is tailored with precision to provide the perfect fit. Its plaid and herringbone styles are right on trend with this season’s menswear-inspired style.
LC Lauren Conrad floral blazer: A trendier take on the blazer, this one has a fun but wearable floral patterns. Princess seams make this feminine floral print blazer more fitted and flattering.
AE boyfriend blazer: It’s all about detailing with this jacket – a notched collar and rolled-up sleeves takes this looser boyfriend-fit blazer to a level of effortless chic.
LC Lauren Conrad womens tuxedo jacket: This tuxedo jacket is a variation on the blazer. Its single button closure, shorter hemline and shrunken fit are perfect for petite gals who are often plagued by ill-fitting outerwear, too long sleeves or awkwardly boxy styles.
Madison Marcus double breasted womens blazer: With notched lapels, double-breasted button front and stark white color, this jacket from the Madison Marcus collection at Neiman Marcus is definitely one of the bolder choices for spring, so keep the rest of the outfit simple.
