Left 4 Dead 2 PC
Review: Left 4 Dead was a groundbreaking game that redefined the zombie survival games genre. It starts in a post apocalyptic world with zombies on the loose everywhere. You have to fight your way through hordes of zombies to get to a rescue point. Your journey is impeded by increasingly dangerous enemies and the AI was very advanced in its genre. Left 4 Dead 2 as a sequel surpassed the first one greatly. It outdoes the first one in terms of visuals, content as well as gameplay. Left 4 Dead was an amazing game but its main drawback was the lack of content. It had very few maps and the maps were quite similar in their core structures. That is not the case with Left 4 Dead 2.
There are a lot more terrains in this and the game explores new directions with better weapons, smarter AI and much better melee combat. One of the defining characteristics of Left 4 Dead 2 PC is the melee combat. The game developers have done an outstanding job by making the game ultra realistic. The melee combat is brutal and violent. Nothing wrong with dishing out some serious pain to a zombie. The gameplay is much better and it is really enjoyable if you use a classy gaming mouse such as the Microsoft SideWinder X5 or the Razer Lachesis.
Talking about zombies, the infected are much better in this game. They have fun new abilities and they have interesting gameplay features. The AI is much smarter in this game. They plan their attacks better. It is more difficult to kill the infected in this game. Now you can blow their foot away and they will still hobble over to you on one foot. The melee and weapon damage is much more interesting in this game. You can take out body parts with your gun fire, smash organs with your melee combat and you can thwack the zombies around with a solid rifle. The infected have more diversity. The ones wearing heavier outfits such as HazMat suits or body armor move slower but can take a lot of bullets to pin down. The lighter clothed infected can move a lot faster and are more agile but can be taken down much more easily. This adds more diversity to the kinds of enemies you will encounter. Overall, the game is fun to play and it is much more engaging now that the damage capabilities are so vast and variable.
• The game has more content now. The variety in the scenarios is greatly welcomed.
• The enemy AI is well developed.
• The damage quotient is incredibly fun.
• More content is needed. Although the game did add some more in the sequel, additional content is still needed.
Left 4 Dead 2 is a brilliant game and is a must-play game for all the zombie apocalypse enthusiasts out there. As an FPS, it is an excellent game with a brilliant melee combat and damage capabilities. You can spend hours playing this game on LAN or across the multiplayer network. It is one of the most awaited games this year and make sure you get your hands on a copy of it.
This game scores a 4.5 out of 5 in my book.
