Help keep your dog flea free
Fleas are a menace that affects all dogs. It doesn’t matter where your dog resides. You can give him a luxurious indoor bed or an outdoor kennel; he will still find some way to catch the fleas. No matter how clean you try to keep your dog, he can still catch fleas. They will irritate your dog all day and he will itch like crazy because a single flea can bite close to 400 times a day.
To keep your dog flea free, keep this following checklist in mind.
- Give your dog a bath regularly. This is one of the best ways to keep ticks and fleas from sticking to his coat. If you think he might have ticks, use an anti tick shampoo such as the 8 in 1 Perfect coat Flea and tick Dog Shampoo.
- Brush his coat regularly with a dog grooming kit. This way you will be able to monitor his coat closely. Use a fine comb such as the Ultra Touch Flea Comb to look for fleas. You can use the Pin and Bristle pet brush too.
- Make sure that your dog doesn’t get too close to trash cans or other dirty areas. They are breeding grounds for pests.
- Don’t let your dog play with stray dogs which might have ticks and fleas. If any of your dog’s friends have fleas, don’t take a chance. Give your dog a bath right after play time.
If your dog does catch fleas, remember to take him to the vet immediately for a checkup. Your vet will let you know how severe it is and he will prescribe the right shampoo and medicines. Take care of your canine pal and keep him flea free!
