Living room furniture
Sometimes, when you plan to decorate your own rooms, you have to become the most intelligent designer ever! Intelligent, because for me, everything in a room has to be very functional along with being fashionable and nice. Now for smart and useful pieces of furniture you always have to do a bit of research. Living rooms give the first impression to your guests/friends. Your furniture and accessories in your living have to be the best if not necessarily different from the rest of the house.
For instance, one piece of furniture that I recently bought when I got into my new apartment is the sectional couch. The best thing about this is, it saves me a lot of space. Centrally locating sofa pieces within a small living area not only gives you proper seating for conversation and intimacy, but could also make the space feel more spacious. If seating in one specific spot is not something that you like, with sectional pieces you have the ability to place them however you prefer. This will also give your own personal creative touch to the living room.
If you really want to think outside the box, then try the 300 years old ottomans. Initially used for resting tired feet, ottomans have now gone beyond that. They are now also used as standalone pieces of furniture and look great with any kind of sofas and accessories. Ottomans now have the capability of hiding a bed for extended company. My Brunner storage ottoman folds out to reveal a sleeping space with some providing bigger beds than others.
This piece of furniture has made the journey from conventional classicism to fresh modernism. You may be surprised to find what an ottoman can do and look like these days.
