How to style a sequined blazer
Till quite recently I would have found it quite difficult to believe that a sequined blazer could be worn by anyone other than models on the runway or actresses on the red carpet. However, after seeing the manner in which stars like Rachel Bilson and Lauren Conrad wear such blazers, I now humbly accept that one can actually wear sequins and look chic. Of course, it goes without saying that a sequin jacket is not something that you could wear on a regular basis to your workplace.
The key to carrying off a shimmery blazer with oomph lies in ensuring that the rest of the ensemble is rather low-key. The blazer should be the central piece. Do not combine with other sequined pieces as that would look too flashy. This would not hold true if the jacket has only a bit of sequins on it. Some of the ways in which you could style a sequined blazer are:
- For a casual daytime look, pair it with a tee and a pair of dark wash skinny jeans for women. The violet draped jacket shown in the image has been toned down when combined with white pants and a violet tank top.
- If you want to give your sequined blazer a more formal look, opt for dark colors such as black or maroon and wear it with a tailored pant.
- Want to glitter at the cocktail party, wear it over a matching cocktail dress. Remember not to wear any statement jewelry. Keep the accessories light and discreet.
- For a hip fun image, wear the blazer over a ladies tank top, hot pants and a pair of tights. Striped blazers in combination with matching short skirts will also look stylish.
If you want to stand out and get noticed in a crowd this Fall, try wearing a sequined blazer with panache.
