I remember a time when I related sweater vests to be restricted to nerds and geeks. I thought they were not cool at all. But then when celebrities like Tiger Woods started sporting them, they became a rage overnight. The one’s that had golf written especially were sold out almost everywhere.

Today, the sweater vest has become a timeless accessory. You can don the formal or casual look with it. It has become an indispensable part of the wardrobe. This is basically a top that comes without sleeves and a neat V-cut neckline. It has a cardigan-like fabric, but can be made from both wool and cotton.

Remember sweater vests are actually a secondary top that you can wear over a tee or shirt on colder days. Of course, thanks to the cotton ones available in the market, you can now wear them on warmer days too.

Sweater vests are a versatile garment that a lot of women are wearing these days too. And trust me guys, if you have one, get ready to borrow it to your partner. These trendy and stylish pieces are a must have in your wardrobe this season.

Here are some looks that you can try with it-

  • For a casual picnic or game of golf, wear the vest with a short sleeve shirt and khaki shorts. You can wear them over a collared tee also.
  • Go semi-formal by wearing a full sleeve check shirt and corduroy trousers with the vest.  Topsiders complete the look.
  • Flaunt a tie for that cute school boy look.

As a rule of thumb, never wear shirts that are as bright as the vest. Opt for contrasts. And remember don’t overdress it. The entire concept of wearing the vest is to create a natural fashion look.
