A blog review: Nicki Trench Blog

I love stumbling across blogs that have great content and a lot of personality! When I came across the Nicki Trench Blog I found just that and was instantly impressed. While reading her blog, I learned Nicki is an author of non-fiction, illustrated books. Furthermore she has numerous interests including crocheting, sewing, gardening, dancing and much more.

As I continued to read her blog, I found myself increasingly interested in learning about her hobbies and passions as she takes you through her thoughts while completing various projects. I had the pleasure of interviewing Nicki:

Why did you start Nicki Trench Blog?

I wanted to show people the process of how I write my books and give people inspiration on making/growing things.

What do you love most about blogging?

I love getting responses from my readers, it’s good to know there are people out there reading my posts – it never ceases to amaze me.

You are an author and talented artist. Where do you get your inspiration?

From everywhere. I love being out in the countryside, walking with my family, friends and dogs and really enjoy vegetable gardening and growing my own produce, but equally love the town with its vibrancy, colour and energy. I’m also learning to dance – I don’t know if this inspires me, but it makes me feel good!

What advice do you have for first time bloggers?

Post lots of pictures! I don’t think people tend to read long texts, my readers seem to just love looking at the pictures over a cup of coffee when they have a spare minute.

What is your next project?

I’m currently working on two books, which is full of tight deadlines. One is a contemporary quilting & patchwork book and the other a book full of yummie baby crochet items.

Anything else?

I’ll also be teaching crafts at the Camden Working Men’s College this winter. I have a new book coming out on the 10th of this month: Super Scary Crochet and one of my books is going to print for the third time and is the publishers fastest growing craft book: Cute & Easy Crochet (Cico Books).

Feeling inspired and want to learn more? Check out her blog! I became obsessed with crochet after purchasing my tibi lined crochet dress and would love to learn more about it! She also has a website/shop where she has started selling her books: http://www.nickitrench.com/id1.html.
