So, without much a do let’s go ahead and glance through our blog picks in this Best of the Web: Be @ Home #37!

CRAFTY ENDEAVORS

Stephanie Hart blog and the girl who quilts blogs

Stephanie Hart

I originally began blogging in 2008 to have my own “space” online to document my work as a new scrapbooker.  It was never meant to be a blog filled with personal details or drama, simply a crafty blog for others who share a love of this hobby.  It is my hope that my scrapbook pages tell the story that needs to be told, and gives the reader a glimpse into the everyday life of a “Crafty Nerd”.

The Girl Who Quilts

QuiltyGirl, or Nikki, blogs to hold herself accountable to expanding her creativity. “I was ready to do more of my own designing,” describes the Seattle-based quilter, “but I needed a push. I still create lots of projects using tutorials or patterns written by others, and I blog about them as well. But I really feel the most creative when a project begins as an idea, develops into a tangible object (i.e. a quilt or tote bag), and results in constructive feedback from others through blog comments.” The Girl Who Quilts is also a convenient and creative way for Nikki to share with family and friends across the country. “I might forget to mention to them how much my daughter Addy loves the library, but when they read my blog and see pictures of Addy’s new library bag you can bet that our next phone call to Grandma will include some chatter about our most recent library trip!” Nikki of The Girl Who Quilts.

School Of Vintage at schoolofvintage.com

“Our blog school of vintage is basically a compilation of our vintage salvages which includes, but is not limited to furniture, housewares, clothing, and accessories. It never ceases to amaze us what people consider to be ‘trash.’ For the most part, all of our items go up for sale, unless it’s something we really feel we can’t live without. Our favorite era is mid-century, but we are always open to anything we feel is of value or great design. For the most part, we don’t refurbish an item unless it is requested, or we feel it is completely necessary. Sometimes our favorite aspect of a piece is when it’s been visibly pre-loved. ” Erin and Jeannine of School of Vintage.

Lori Whitlock

“I am a mother and I run a graphic design studio in my home. As a graphic designer I’ve been so blessed to be able to marry my love for all things crafty along with my career. One of the things I truly enjoy designing is cards. I engineer digital die cutting files to help people with a digital cutting machine (such as a Silhouette) create their own cards, boxes, and tons other items. Card making is such a lovely craft. You can make your own cards out of a few supplies that you likely have on hand. To get a few ideas and to get to know me better, you can visit my blog.” Lori for Lori Whitlock blog.

Hazel and Mare at hazelandmare.com

“On my blog, I combine two of my favorite things: poetry and crafts. I share a daily poem with my readers, and to illustrate the poem, I feature a talented artist or craftsperson from Etsy. I am a big supporter of buying items uniquely made by artists, so sharing their work on my blog is my own little way of promoting the handmade movement. My poems are usually pretty silly, but I love making my readers smile.” Katherine of Hazel and Mare.

KITCHEN CRUSADES

Vegan queen runner bean blog, anglo Indian food blog and eat the damn cake blogVegan Queen Runner Bean

” My blog is the place where I go to write about all of my kitchen crusades. It is my diary, my photo album and where I share my vegan creations. I love to make treats with a healthy twist, using nutritious ingredients to promote numerous health benefits. Some of the weirdest of superfoods also make an appearance. Add a bit of fitness, a few rambles and a whole lotta life and there you have it- VeganQueenRunnerBean.” Emma of Vegan Queen Runner Bean.

Anglo-Indian Food at anglo-indianfood.blogspot.com

“Anglo-Indian food is the delicious result of the British Raj in India. Indian Khansamas or cooks took aspects of British cuisine and amalgamated them with Indian methods of cooking, adding spices and other ingredients to create Anglo-Indian Cuisine! With this in mind I’ve brought out 7 Recipe Books on exclusive Anglo-Indian Cuisine and also started these Blogs as well. This Collection of Recipes is compiled with the intention of reviving the old tastes of the Colonial Era, and thereby preserving the old Anglo-Indian Flavours and tastes. This is my small way of preserving the culture of the Anglo-Indian Community through its culinary delights, thereby preserving its culinary heritage.” Bridget of Anglo-Indian Food.

Eat the Damn cake at eatthedamncake.com

” My blog chronicles the thoughts and experiences of a young woman in New York City, who is figuring out how to appreciate her own beauty, and asking some serious (and some silly) questions about what it means to be a modern woman.” Kate of Eat the damn cake

 My Burning Kitchen at myburningkitchen.com

” I like to cook. I like to eat. I’m married to @cooljerk, a (comic) stripper. I write about all the above at My Burning Kitchen.” Darlene of My Burning Kitchen.

grilledshane

“Grilledshane is devoted to all things grilled cheese: homemade recipes, news, and humorous anecdotes. Original gourmet vegetarian grilled cheese sandwiches are created with a unique twist. After reading this blog, you will come to realize that grilled cheese sandwiches can be much more than two pieces of bread and one slice of cheese. grilledshane was invented to expand my personal culinary horizons while also influencing others’ views on the standard grilled cheese.” Shane of  grilledshane.

VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF LIFE

sydney shop girl, create with joy blog and wild acre flowers blog

Sydney Shop Girl

“Sydney Shop Girl is essentially a blog about my life as a woman in her mid thirties juggling love, life, work, my hobbies and all those big decisions and issues that hit you when you’re getting ever closer to forty.  I write for pleasure and I hope my blog is a celebration of language, laughter and ‘I’ve felt that way too’ for my readers.  Because Sydney Shop Girl is about my life, it’s hard for me to define it as a shopping, food, travel or lifestyle blog.  Each post occurs in the context of a different day and experiences.  The one thing that has completely blown me away whilst writing this blog is the amount of interaction I’ve had and continue to have with my readers.  I really appreciate each one of their comments and emails.” Leemin of Sidney Shop Girl.

Create with Joy

“Create With Joy is an inspirational blog that celebrates creativity in all its facets. Inside you’ll find arts and crafts to enrich you; mouth-watering recipes to entice you; books and resources to enlighten you, and so much more. As I share my heart and creative passions, it’s my hope that you’ll be inspired to live each day to the fullest, and infuse creativity in all you do.” Ramona of Create with Joy

GusAndLula at gusandlula.com

“Gus and Lula is a casual log of my life, interests and projects.  I’m a slightly design-obsessed mother of two beautiful babies recently adopted from Ethiopia, and the wife of one patient man.  Here you will find a collection of tidbits from my life, things I find inspiring, and a log of attempts to make our house a home.  Hope you enjoy.” Britt of Gus and Lula

Wild Acre at wildacreflowers.blogspot.com

” Here at the Wild Acre blog I celebrate the changing seasons in my garden and local English countryside as I grow and pick flowers to sell in bouquets and floral arrangements for small events. When the season closes in September, I concentrate on my other creative passion, designing and making jewellery from precious metals and gemstones. It is a lovely life.” Belinda of Wild Acre

the owl bones

The Owl Bones is a photography blog that mainly concentrates on my personal life and all the other things that interest me, but most particularly fashion. You will find original photography brought by random moments with friends, academic life or organized photo shoots. Other than that, I also post fashion editorials and home decor that I find eye-catching and inspiring. While I don’t consider myself a fashion blogger, I attempt at creating outfit posts, though very rarely; I am still working around the possibility of doing such entries more often. In a nutshell, The Owl Bones is to showcase my photography while at the same time, to share a little bit of myself and my interests.” Lesley of the owl bones.

Whether you are planning to decorate with antique white bar stools kitchen, explore a new interest or do something inspiring, these blogs will sure be a handy guide and reference. So keep the talent coming! And as always don’t forget to submit your much loved blog to be highlighted on the Best of the Web: Be@Home by mailing at blog@become.com
