Decorating with brown

Most decorators love brown as they feel it’s a safe color to play around with. It goes with almost any accessory, furniture and color scheme you may have in mind.
Though I didn’t start off with brown being my favorite color, I have taken a bit of liking to it. I had always associated brown with dull, neutral, safe and boring; but once I saw the possibilities I was a complete covert. My living room walls are a sandy beach-colored light brown with just a hint of tan and I love it. It makes me feel at home and cozy. Take a look at some other brilliant ideas to decorate with brown:
- If you have light brown walls, you can play around with accessories. Bring in bright colors like blues and greens without fear and team it with white woodwork.
- Try a light oatmeal brown color in the kitchen to give it that rich, forest look. Get in bright orange accessories or go in for muted colors like white. And if your kitchen gets in natural light, it’ll look spectacular.
- Try out a soothing caramel or chocolate color in your bedroom. You’ll feel like being cocooned in bed the whole day. Or if you feel better with pastel colors, bring in a brown via a walnut dresser or brown comforters sets. If you’re going with brown walls, bring in a dramatic yellow table or dresser.

Accessorize with rich brown if you’re going in for beige wall colors and play around with other colors. Lavender curtains and upholstery looks great with a rich brown center table and coffee tables. Use brown pillows on the lavender sofa to bring in some relief from the lavender. Unleash your creativity and imagination and go wild with brown.
