Easy cleaning house tips
House cleaning needn’t be a gigantic chore if you follow a few simple rules. Follow this motto – clean up as you go. With a little discipline and practice, you come to a point where it becomes automatic and involves every member of the family. Here are some easy house cleaning tips to get you better organized!
- Don’t leave dishes lying around after a meal. Wash up or load the dishwasher as soon as you’ve finished a meal so you don’t have to come back for it later. Wipe counter-tops after cooking and put away dish cloths so the kitchen doesn’t look messy. Plan a once-a-month kitchen cupboard cleaning and follow through with it.
- Bathrooms can be the most tiresome but every family member has to clean up after themselves. Make rules. The sink, shower curtains and walls, faucet, tap, mirror, toilet seat and rim, toilet bowl have to be cleaned up or wiped, whenever necessary and immediately after use and do not compromise on that. Keep a washcloth for every activity — handy and ready to use.
- Make sure you have a bed cover or a comforter so children can quickly pull it over the bed while tidying up. Keep baskets handy for toys, clothes and even for shoes if necessary. And teach kids to organize their things like books and games neatly into shelves or cupboards after use.
- Every member of the household can take turns to dust or clean with a hand-held vacuum cleaner or a cordless floor sweeper. It’s simple if done every day and takes up hardly any time. Fluff out cushions and pillows, wipe down center and coffee tables with a Swiffer cloth or a moist cloth and add a quick flick with a duster and you’re done.
Cleaning up after every activity should be your motto. Heavy clean-up activities like scrubbing windows and other things can be planned as a monthly activity and done together.
