Chicken marsala for aspiring chefs

As one of the most renowned Italian dishes, chicken marsala is an exquisite and delicious blend of chicken cutlets, mushrooms and marsala wine. Not only is it tasty though, it’s a very easy to make dish that will help you impress your friends and loved ones during your next dinner party no matter your level of cooking skill.


-1/4 cup all-purpose flour for coating
-1/2 teaspoon saltflorio-marsala-sweet-dessert-wine
-1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
-1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
-4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves – pounded 1/4 inch thick
-4 tablespoons butter
-4 tablespoons olive oil
-1 cup sliced mushrooms
-1/2 cup Marsala wine
-1/4 cup cooking sherry


  1. In a shallow dish or bowl, shift together the flour, salt, pepper and oregano. Coat the chicken pieces in the flour mixture.
  2. Using a large skillet, melt the butter in oil and place over medium heat. Place the chicken and lightly sauté it until it turns brown.
  3. Turn over chicken pieces and add mushrooms if desired. Pour in marsala wine and sherry, cover skillet and let it simmer for ten minutes, turning once and ensuring that the chicken is no longer pink and juices run clear.

For a nice side dish, rice pilaf, potatoes and pasta are the common number one choices.
