Essentials to carry when traveling with your dog
If your pet is not used to traveling, it’s better to make a list of essentials he just can’t do without so you don’t forget anything. You can take it easy if you know you have everything you need to make it a pleasurable experience for both you and your pet. Take a look at some must-have things for easy travel with your pet:
Seat covers to protect the car’s upholstery or leather can save you a lot of cleaning trouble later on as they can be removed and tossed into the washing machine. If you’re traveling with a cat, you’ll be better off with a portable litter box on those deserted highways as you can just dispose of the contents after use. Carry plenty of tissues and micro fiber towels to dry off your pet in case he gets wet.
Food and medicine
If your pet is used to one particular brand of food that’s not easily available make sure you order well in advance and carry the amount needed for the duration of the trip. Carry a travel water dispenser too. Carry all his medical supplies, for example like his Citrate granules 300gms that prevents urinary stone formation, other medication and a first-aid kit.
A certificate from the vet that your dog is healthy and that he’s up to date on all his shots is necessary if you’re traveling interstate. A pet microchip implanted into your pet is a good idea so hit doesn’t get lost and make sure you have a collar on him with his ID. Taking a chew toy or his favorite pillow or rug could make your pet feel at home and not get restless on the road. A medium pet carrier with its blanket could also make him/ her feel comfortable and easy for you to carry him too. But make sure it’s well-ventilated.
Traveling with your pet is like traveling with your baby. If you plan it well, you can have an enjoyable trip that you’ll always remember.
