Casual wear for the season
Here at Be Suave we’ve been dedicating quite a few posts to the topic of coats, sports jackets and scarves. For good reason of course, all those things are a fantastic part of the winter man’s wardrobe – but let’s face it: there’s a whole lot more to a complete outfit than a coat. For that reason this column will be dedicated to looking over a couple of great shirts for this season. We’ll also discuss what makes them so great, why they’re perfect for the season, and what you can pair them with so you can find the best winter outfit for for you.
The Snap Shirt
The snap shirt is very much an iconic piece of classic Americana. Wrangler snap shirts are an excellent example of this venerated style. Sometimes these shirts get a bit of a bad rap in more urban areas because they tend to have a bit of a country flair. The key to avoid looking like you’ve just stepped off the farm is to match the western shirt with a more modern coat or jacket – this seeming clash of styles creates a great contrast that looks casual yet put together.
The Denim Shirt
The denim shirt is another example of a classic American clothing staple that still looks great today. The key with mens denim shirts is to never pair them with like colored jeans. For example, if you’re wearing a light tinted denim shirt, wear a dark pair of jeans, or vice versa. To avoid this issue altogether, instead pair the shirt with a pair of light or dark chinos. This type of shirt can look great in casual and even semi-formal settings so don’t be afraid to mix it up with boots and a leather jacket, or a pair of Allen Edmonds and a sport coat.
