How to make your bathroom feel larger
The bathroom is supposed to be a place where you can relax and take care of personal business. Claustrophobia is one of the last things you want to feel inside a bathroom. If you’ve got a cramped bathroom there are a few things you can do to save space.
The toilet
A toilet can take up a significant amount of space in a bathroom. A unique idea that is becoming more popular is having a corner toilet. Corner toilets can easily be tucked into a corner and allow much more wall and surface space. It does this by taking advantage of a corner you normally wouldn’t use in a restroom.
Go white
If you bathroom still feels small, consider going with white. White colors ease the eyes and makes things appear larger than they are. White shower curtains, white walls, white counter tops. You’ll be surprised what a difference the color white will have.
Sliding doors
I’ve seen this in a few homes before. Sliding doors rather than your typical swinging doors may not add space, but it will make your restroom feel less claustrophobic.
Trick your eyes
A couple of things you can do to trick the eyes of your guests, other than using white colors, is to use vertically striped wall patterns or have brighter lighting. A vertically stripped wall pattern will lead your eyes upward taking attention away from the cluttered space on the surface. Better lighting in your bathroom will make your restroom feel more open. If you do have a window definitely allow for natural light to come in.
If you are looking for a new toilet you’ll either want to stay with the conventional white or you could get a black toilet. The advantage with a black toilet is that your toilet will appear cleaner and if there are water stains, either on the inside or outside of the bowl, they will be extremely difficult to see.
