Basic tools needed for basic home repairs
It is safe to say that the majority of us are not very handy around the house. If we were, then plumbers, electricians, painters, and construction workers wouldn’t exist. But we still need to be able to at least make minor home repairs, if for nothing else than to be able to save a few bucks from having to call a professional out to do the job for us. The first step in getting those home repairs done: having a solid set of basic tools. Today we are going to look at some of those tools you’ll need.
Socket Set: A socket set is a set of different sized sockets that are used to tighten and loosen nuts. Since this is a common need around the house, it is a good set of tools to have. Make sure to get a set that has both metric and SAE (inches). Napa Tools has a great selection available.
Basic Tool Set: A basic tool set should consist of a hammer, screwdriver, pliers, wrench, and tape measure. If you want to get fancy, some sets also include drill bits, screws, anchors, and a level, which all come in handy at one point or another.
Electric Tools: To a novice, power tools might seem intimidating. But most of them are easy to use, you just need to take the proper safety precautions. A drill is a definite must have, as it not only makes holes when needed, but also can be used as a screwdriver, and you can attach a grinding wheel to it as well. A commercial electric tool set should include a drill, shop light, and a power saw.
There you have it, some of the tools you’ll need for basic home repairs. You may not be the next Bob Vila, but you won’t have to call him out to do the job either.
