Best of the Web: Style Blogs of the Week no. 85
It’s day 13 of the Olympics, so today we wanted to celebrate by going global! There are no borders in the world of fashion, which is why we wanted to highlight blogs based both near and far, from our very own San Francisco Bay Area all the way out to Munich, Germany; Belgrade, Serbia; and Auckland and Wellington, New Zealand. Whether you prefer to get your style inspiration from a personal or street-view perspective, we’ve got you covered. (And for the record, we think all of the amazing bloggers we’re featuring deserve a medal!)
“Rio the Dreamcatcher is like an online public diary where I can display my eclectic style and beauty/hair interests. The majority of my posts incorporate my thrifty finds and DIY projects that are perfect for ladies who are students living on a budget like me. I believe fashion should be fun and creative while being affordable. I plan on creating posts for men who are into thrifting and looking sharp on a budget.” — Olivia Irene
“In the world of fashion and style, modelling shots can sometimes feel generic. Like looking at the same 10 photos day in day out. The real beauty is out there in the everyday. At the lights. Waiting for the bus. Sitting on a bench. They might be a bit quirky, they might be absolutely on trend. It’s no surprise to me that Lanvin has just announced that it is shunning models, to go for real people in its latest campaigns. Fresh, gorgeous people wearing real clothes. That’s what I try to capture.” — Wallace
“On my blog Style-Roulette I write daily little articles about my adventures in the fashion scene. I show pictures from events and showrooms I attended and also personal style outfits and new things I bought. I love shoes and shopping; therefore, you’ll find a lot of pictures of new clothes, colorful outfits and high heels on my blog. I also love to travel the world and share some of my impressions with my readers. If reading my articles is not enough, I also post YouTube videos with hair tutorials and shopping hauls once in a while.” — Luisa
“Behind moiminnie is a 22-year-old textile and fashion design student working, breathing and blogging from Belgrade, Serbia.
Freelance stylist/illustrator/fashion designer and a huge photography lover. Can really be inspired by anything in the world.
Sometimes wishes she was born in the 1960s and that Andy Warhol and Edie Sedgwick were her parents.
She mainly blogs about her personal style as well as trends that she loves (through her own styling).
Art direction, photography and visual identity are really important aspects to her blog as well.
She describes herself as an introvert, but is creative and has an easygoing soul. Her style is minimal but has her unique, eclectic twist.” — Minnie
“(Our blog is) a way for our readers to get inspired by women who look fabulous in their ordinary life. As we haven’t captured any fashion week street style yet, our blog represent casual outfits that are affordable to any girl or woman out there.” — Nikolas
If the Olympics have you inspired to get a little more active this summer, try calling up your best friend, grab a couple of Big Foot Go Ped scooters, and make your own mini event of it!
