Target + Neiman Marcus holiday collaboration
It’s only November and Christmas is over a month away, but Target and Neiman Marcus have been preparing for this year’s 2012 holiday season since July. #Holiday24, as it is known to the social media world, is an exceptional collaboration between Target and Neiman Marcus, as well as some help from the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CDFA).
It is not every day that 24 well known fashion designers, including Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg, and Tory Burch, get together to create a collection of cute and practical gifts at Target prices. The exciting buildup for this holiday collection will continue even after it becomes available in stores, both at Target and Neiman Marcus, and online December 1st.
So what fabulous must have gifts, both for yourself and a few lucky friends & family, can we expect to see from the collection?
Fortunately Target + Neiman Marcus revealed the look book October 16th, and it includes a wide variety of limited-edition products ranging from Rodarte wrapping paper for $7.99 to an Alice + Olivia cruiser bike for $499.99. Altuzzara will release some holiday tableware perfect for get togethers with family and friends. In between there are some great accessories to keep you warm and stylish throughout the winter season, such as a black and grey Marc Jacobs scarf, and a pair of Brian Atwood studded gloves.
Tracy Reese, who also designed Michelle Obama’s show stopper custom-made pink toned dress at the Democratic National Convention, added an adorable sequence print blouse to the collection that would be the perfect top for this year’s holiday parties. Derek Lam’s leopard print slippers look so cozy that you might need to make a conscious effort to take them off; good thing leopard print is a great way to spice up an outfit.
As the anticipated December 1st date gets closer, Target + Neiman Marcus will be stepping up their game to promote the collaborated collection. The beautiful model Karlie Kloss was chosen to be the face of this comprehensive ad campaign. Between photographer Craig McDean and Quentin Jones, illustrator/filmmaker/animator, the print, TV, online and social media campaigns will reflect the magnitude of these two industry leaders coming together. The campaign will be integrated into the ABC series “Revenge” during the Sunday evening November 11th mid-season break; Target + Neiman Marcus will be the show’s sole sponsor. They will even replace regularly scheduled commercials with their own storyline ads that viewers will follow throughout the episode. #GiftofRevenge is where the social media discussion will take place during the episode; #Holiday24 is where you can find the current discussion about the collection.
Although the holidays have a tendency to become stressful, Target + Neiman Marcus’ collaboration has put the cheer back in gift giving, and let’s be honest there will probably be some ‘self-gifting’ in the process. Diane von Furstenberg described her feelings about the collaboration as a designer, “creativity is our best gift, and with the generous support of Neiman Marcus and Target, we are happy to have created specially designed products as a thank you to share with our consumers and friends.”
And we could not be more thankful, thank you Diane, Oscar, and Tory for designing all of these beautiful products we can afford to indulge in.
