Window perches: a cat’s throne
Anyone who has, at one time or another, owned a kitten or a cat knows that they are a curious creature. They are great explorers and will survey their entire domain. You’ll be hard-pressed to find any surface in your home that you indoor cat has yet to set paw on. As the saying goes, “if it fits, I sits.” Part of the reason that cats love to explore so much is because they possess a need to be aware of their surroundings. By crossing every nook and cranny of their home, they are able to minimize the chance of anything catching by surprise.
One of the best treats you can buy for your feline friend is a cat window perch. This is little more than an elevated soft patch for your cat to spend its time lazing about. Cats appreciate the higher ground because the vantage point allows them to survey their domain. An even better option is a cat window perch. These are similar to standard perches, except they are attached onto window sills. Most as easy to assemble and don’t require any tools to set up. It isn’t just their personal space that cats are curious about. They are also interested in the goings on in the environment outside of their domain. Instead of having your cat squeeze itself on your window sill, find his favorite gazing spot and set up a cat window perch there.
Some people are concerned that a window perch won’t be sturdy enough to support a fully grown cat, but there is no need to fret as most perches are designed for large cats and can support up to 35 pounds. If you need to make certain, just apply downward pressure with you arm to assure the sturdiness of your perch.
