Finding the right headphones for you
If you are looking to improve your personal audio experience then getting the right headphones would be a great idea. Headphones are the least expensive and the most effective ways to improve your sound. With them you wouldn’t have to worry about the acoustics of the room. Here are a few tips on how to find a good set of headphones.
One of the first things you would need to know before picking headphones would be the different types of headphones. There are earbuds, in-ear headphones, on-ear headphones, and over-ear headphones. Earbuds are the most commonly used ones around. They are the least expensive and the sound quality isn’t as good when compared to the others. They are great to listen to music indoors or around places where there isn’t too much of external noise. A few of them have built-in microphones as well. A good example of earbuds would be Frends headphones. They are perfect for everyday casual usage.
Over-ear headphones offer the best sound quality but are more on the expensive side of it. Over-ear headphones usually have quite a lot of features. Noise cancelling systems are present on a few over-ear headphones. They are great when you are on a flight as they eliminate ambient sounds so you can clearly listen to what is playing. In-ear headphones also provide noise cancelling but not as effectively as over-ear headphones. In-ear headphones fit snugly in the ear canals and block outside sound.
Over-ear headphones do it by using a small microphone and a powered circuit that creates a wave opposite in polarity to the incoming noise thereby eliminating any external sounds. Before choosing one it would be great if you read the noise canceling headphones review and what others have to say about it. One of the best noise cancelling headphones that I’ve personally used would be the Bose Quiet Comfort 3. They are just fantastic to travel with.
Headphones can further be classified into wireless and wired. Wireless headphones are great as you do’’t have to worry about wires getting entangled. They are slightly more expensive and they usually need to be charged or their batteries need to be replaced as and when necessary. Among the wireless over-ear headphones the Sennheiser RS 120 would be a great option. These headphones are great to watch TV as they have a wireless range of about 50 feet.
