Cute Valentine’s Day celebration ideas
Whether you are excited, annoyed, or feeling apathetic toward the whole celebration, there is no denying that the Valentine’s Day theme is everywhere you look. It seems as though we had just finished ringing in the New Year and then suddenly it was time to start making plans to celebrate Saint Valentine with hearts, candy, and roses. Although there is a lot of negative criticism about this holiday being simply an overly commercialized greeting card holiday, it seems that the core of the holiday is simply a day dedicated to expressing affection towards your friends, family, significant others, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc. Do you necessarily need one specific day to do that? No, but it is a nice symbol and reminder of the special sentiment of love.
Therefore, whether you are in a relationship or single, the celebration of Valentine’s Day should be fun and cheerful to celebrate. If you are looking to get some friends and family together, or even just plan on celebrating with that one other special someone, keep in mind that it does not need to be extravagant. Here are some simple and cute ideas for a Valentine’s Day themed party.
Think about taking the heart theme to the next level by having a either a Valentine cupcake or Valentine cookie decorating party. When you include some kind of dessert, everyone is happy and wants to participate. All you need is some pink and red frosting and you are set to go. It can be as simple as decorating some break and bake cookies, or you can get creative with cupcakes.
If you want to make the heart theme even more prevalent, go for some red velvet batter and cream cheese frosting. Also, a really easy and simple tip for making heart shaped cupcakes is to just grab some marbles and place one in each cupcake well of the pan between the liner and the outside of the pan. This will allow the cupcakes to bake with an indent and the fully cooked end result looks like a heart. Since Valentine’s Day is on a Thursday this year, if you really want to impress your coworkers this year, bring some in using cupcake holders to share. Or if you want to really surprise your girlfriend, sneak one into her lunch using an individual cupcake holder.
Since there are so many classic and romantic movies, embrace the holiday by having a movie marathon of your favorites. Some of our favorites are When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, Casablanca, Pretty Woman, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Say Anything, and Dirty Dancing. And there are so many more to make up an incredible movie marathon for you and your friends. And of course ladies, don’t forget to celebrate the Parks and Recreation coined “Galentine’s Day” to celebrate your female friendships. Leslie Knope, played by Amy Poehler, describes the day perfectly as, “Oh it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”
