How to add French style to your home décor
There is something so timeless and classic about French décor. There is a romantic and tasteful elegance to the style that can’t be compared to any other décor. Even if you don’t live in the beautiful city of love, Paris, or the French country side, you can still bring some of this sophisticated décor to your own home. We’ve put together a guide to the French decorating essentials will add that little “je ne sais quoi” something extra.
Reminiscent of the Château Versailles, gilded furniture and gilded decorations give off a royal ambiance without being over the top. The gold brings out and balances well with other bright colors. When it comes to the living room, have a few gilded accent pieces, like a mirror, or a hutch, or a couple matching cushion chairs. These gilded elements will noticeably brighten up the family room making it an enjoyable place to be.
Almost every building in Paris has a wrought iron balcony on each window. The wrought iron design varies from simplistic to extremely detailed. Include a wrought iron 4 poster bed frame in your bedroom for a French countryside style. Complete the look with ivory white linen bedding, curtains, and curtains for the canopy around your bed. To be the ultimate Parisian, have a wrought iron fence or gate leading into your home.
Shades of blue and yellow
Powder blues and bright yellows also go well with this French themed décor. These go especially well with the gilded accents and really brighten up the wrought iron, which can be a little dark. Don’t be afraid of lace detailing either for a vintage and antique look. Allow for plenty of natural light to shine through and before you know it you home will be the epitome of a fresh take on the French style; the perfect combination of romantic, classic, bright, and elegant.
