Pencil style and what it all means
Throughout the years, there have been many different types of fashion to come and go. However, there are still many to this day that we cling to because they simply never can go out of style. While shoulder pads were a thing of the ‘80’s and high waist jeans were that of the 90’s there was still one absolute trend that stuck around, even from earlier in the century. Keep reading to see what amazing style we’re talking about.
We’re of course talking about the classic pencil silhouette. Women have worn this for years and still it manages to be on every runway show because of the flattering shape that it exudes. Why is it that this style sticks around? Agreed by fashion experts the world over, it’s mostly because this style oozes femininity. It hugs your hips while still giving you a flattering shape that won’t be too revealing and makes the perfect work skirt if you’re interested. Newer styles even still are coming out, items like the pencil dress are new to the scene but have that same shape that we all desire but instead of just the skirt is a whole outfit ready to be worn.
Pencil skirt styles have been popular since they were originally created by Christian Dior himself in the 1950’s, post World War II. The idea was for women who were also coming home from being a part of the war would need new clothes to support being a housewife. Interestingly enough, they’re now popular for mostly being worn at the office for women. They have a very slim fit and can look fabulous if worn with just the right pair of heels. If you’re looking for that perfect work outfit then consider pairing a pencil skirt with a blazer and bright top underneath. The idea is to have a subdued but not completely boring look.
