The MLS 2013 season is about to begin and I am sure all of you soccer fans are quite excited. The popularity of MLS (Major League Soccer) has resulted in the growth of soccer in America. There are a lot of kids who are taking up soccer these days. Here are a few tips on how to become a good soccer player.

Soccer is a physically challenging sport. Think about it, you have to constantly move across a field which is about to 105 meters long and about by 68 m wide. This is why it is essential that you prepare yourself before you hit the field. Without proper preparation you could end up seriously injuring yourself.

One of the first things that you should do before you begin a training session or a soccer game would be to warm up. Warm up exercises are very important as they prevent you from cramping up or causing muscle strains. Before doing any stretching or fast running it is essential that you jog. During your stretching and training sessions it would best to wear soccer pants so that your legs remain warm. Time your drills and do about 7 changes and make sure you do them in less than 20 seconds. Keep improving on them and you will find that you have a better change in direction on the field during a game. There are many different soccer conditioning techniques which will help you improve specific aspects of your game and strengthen different aspects of the game.

Once you’ve warmed up you should begin working on your skills. One of the most common skills to work on for soccer players is dribbling. Dribbling is basically running at speed with complete control of the ball. The key to getting that control is to keep the ball close to your feet while running at full speed. The best dribblers in the world like Messi and Ronaldo often have the ball close to their feet so they always maintain complete control.
