Tricks for bringing the relaxing spa experience home
It is absolutely essential in life to take moments to yourself for relaxation. Sometimes it can be hard not to get too caught up in all of the chaos and craziness of our lives and work and we simply forget to take that time. This is why it is just as important to make sure we schedule in this ‘me time’, or else it easily gets disregarded. It does not even need to be a significant amount of time; it can be as simple as reading a chapter in a good book, meditating for 10 minutes, or unwinding after a long day at work in a warm bath. However, if you are like most women, you absolutely relish in a special spa day. And while we can’t all be so lucky to have a budget that allows us to go to a day spa on a regular basis, we can all afford to bring some of the spa experience to our own homes. So put on some calming music, throw some cucumbers in your water, light a few candles, and get a little bit of your sanity back with these helpful home spa ideas.
Depending on your level of commitment, this can be the same facial steamer that the professionals use, or you can go for the boiling pot of water method. If you decide for the latter, one helpful hint is to add some herbs into the mix to make it more spa-like. The way to do this is boil a pot of water on the stove and get a large bowl that will be able to hold this water. Get some dried herbs such as dried lavender flowers, rose buds, and/or jasmine flowers, put them in the large bowl, and then once the water is boiling pour the water into the herbs filled bowl and allow it to steep like you would tea for about 5-10 minutes. Situate the bowl in a place that you will comfortably be able to sit and hold your head over and get a large towel and drape it over back of your head to create a tent-like structure. The heated moisture will hydrate your skin and give it a fresh glow.
To make sure you really cleanse your skin, use a body scrub or face scrub. This will help to get rid of dead skin cells that cause your skin to look dull. Also sometimes blemishes can occur when dead skin stays in your pores, so definitely scrub up. There are so many at home recipes you can make for your own facial scrub or you can buy a great facial scrub for your skin. Natural facial sugar scrubs are popular and a great way to wake up your skin.
