For simple headache, we usually find some pleasant odors alleviate the pain or more help it go away. Aromatherapy has been known as an alternative to change our mood and to stimulate brain function. Essential oils are the popular form of this alternative medicine that most would choose over tablet or capsule.

Here are few aromas that will surely help us.

Lavender – This is known for its calming power. It helps in overcoming nervous tension and depression.

Eucalyptus – Apart from getting rid of the insects, because they don’t want the smell, this increases our brainwave activities. It counters mental fatigue.

Peppermint – If you want to relax, get essential oil with peppermint aroma. It is effective at nerve relaxation and it also relieves pain. It provides cooling effect when apply or even when smelled.

Chamomile – One of the known essential oils that relieves headache is chamomile. It is a good alternative for pain reliever as well for menstrual cramps. It has properties that calm our mind which is good to ease out anxiety, hypertension, and stress.

Citrus – Another aroma that helps fight depression is citrus.

Basil – Insects don’t want the smell of basil, so you can use it as repellent. With it calming properties, it can fight anxiety, insomnia, and nervousness.

Rose – This aroma is considered as antidepressant because it has this calming effect, which is also ease out insomnia, hypertension, and stress. It is also a good tonic for dry, sensitive skin when applied.
