Winter might have bid farewell but skiing is still in for some people who love the outdoors. But is spring the perfect time to go skiing? Is it not too warm for that? Actually, some pros of late season snow include being cheaper, quieter and sunnier. As expected, accommodation cost and lift passes are less than during mid-winter. Expect also that there will be fewer people in the area. Most people don’t realize too that a sunnier weather is more pleasant because that would mean longer daylight hours and longer opening times. Aside from enjoying the snow, you can also enjoy the beer at the same time.

For late season skiing and snowboarding, there is a general rule to follow: head high or head north. An ideal resort during this time should be at least 2000 meters high. In the United States, there are many places you can choose from if you want to do these sports in spring.

Mammoth, California

Get the best of both worlds by having a season that typically lasts into June with 300 days of sunshine each year. Mammoth is USA’s premier mountain resort for this unique weather all year round. Sounds like a perfect treat for skiers and snowboarders? See for yourself.

Alta, Utah

Have a blast this Easter by visiting Alta. It has a 2,000 foot vertical drop and features events for snow lovers. Alta receives more snow than most of Utah with 514 inches annual snowfall on average. Sadly though, snowboarding is not allowed here. But if skiing is your thing, Alta is should be on your list.

Lake Tahoe

Encompassed both by California and Nevada, Lake Tahoe boasts it seven different ski resorts suited for all levels. The ski season here extends until May and the month of April is a perfect timing to hit the slopes. The vast area allows outgoing visitors to put up different activities, making it the best outdoor destination for sporty peeps.

Breckenridge, Colorado

It may not be popular to most of the people but for skiers, it is certainly one of the best places to try skiing in April. More than just having the highest chairlift on the continent, this North American destination features nightclubs, historic sites, and fine dining and shopping experience. Be there during the Spring Massive Festival for extra treat.
