My husband and I are an outdoorsy couple and enjoy climbing and kayaking, but once every year my husband spends a few days with his childhood friends. All of them love back country skiing. He gets extremely pumped up as the first day of the “Boys’ Day Out” approaches. I never see him get this thrilled about a vacation spent with me! Usually he starts preparing for the vacation almost two weeks in advance! He begins the preparation by taking out his treasured Alpine backpack from the cupboard and dusting it.

Ash is generally a down-to-earth person and does not get overly excited about anything with the exception of skiing. He idolizes Bode Miller. His precious Lowe Alpine Fall Line 35 Backpack has been autographed by Miller and he refuses to let the children come anywhere near it! However, I believe that the backpack is really worth its value even if it hadn’t been autographed! It is really stylish, durable and convenient.

My nephew, Nicky, was very tense. This was very surprising. Nicky has a well-rounded personality. He always gets straight A’s, is part of the school’s track and field team, and is very popular amongst his peers. He has a cool temperament and rarely loses his composure.

Nicky felt that he could not match up to him. I didn’t want Nicky to give up so easily so I discussed the matter with his mother. We came up with a plan. Thereafter Nicky’s mother gave him a pep talk and persuaded him to train for the selections. Nicky’s coach agreed to train him. There I was, looking at myself in the mirror- petite, pretty, and with a figure that was the envy of all my friends. My eyes were shining with joy. I had just returned from an unforgettable date with my boyfriend. He had got down on his knees and proposed to me with a diamond engagement ring.

There I was, looking at myself in the mirror- petite, pretty, and with a figure that resembled an over sized Bridget Jones. Delivering two babies and looking after them, had taken a toll on my body and so had the change in my lifestyle.

Earlier, I had been a health freak- eating healthy food, going for daily morning walks and exercising regularly. Nowadays, the moment I get some time to myself, I flop onto the couch, watch my favorite serials or re-run and dig into a packet of potato chips. Not very inspiring, is it?

However, I had gotten frustrated of looking like a jumbo. I had to do something and fast. Going to the gym was not an option. I didn’t like leaving Nina with a baby sitter. So the next alternative was to buy fitness equipment. Since I loved walking I decided that I should buy a moderately priced treadmill.

Since my husband and I preferred to buy stuff online, we checked out the fitness range at become.com and decided to buy the ProForm 570 Crosswalk Treadmill. This allowed me to exercise before my television and then fold it up after exercising. Do you know a surefire way to improve your confidence and self-esteem? Make a goal for yourself and achieve it. This works for me, as I get a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction on achieving my goal. Moreover, if the target helps you to look better, then there’s nothing like it!

I realized this quite recently. When my cousin had discovered that I was trying to get back into shape, she gifted me with a really smart looking Adidas track top. She said that she wanted me to wear it while exercising. She had one of the same model and found it extremely comfortable as its CLIMALITE® fabric helped in managing the sweat. The only catch was that she didn’t realize that the track top was one size small! Since this Adidas Response Track Tops are slim fit and very feminine, if I wore it, I would look terrible. Life is so unfair!

So I set myself the goal of reaching the medium size as soon as possible. It was not easy. I had to avoid many temptations like chocolates, potato fries and cheesy pizzas. When I had started exercising, I found it extremely difficult to motivate myself. Earlier, I just had the objective of getting back into shape. Now that I had a tangible goal- to fit into the track top, to look good in it and to tell my cousin, “Thanks for your gift- it fits me perfectly!” I worked out and worked hard for the next two months. Finally, I accomplished my goal. Yippee! I had not felt this good about myself for years!

Guess what my next action was? To buy myself a beautiful V-necked evening dress, by Velvet in small size, that I have wanted to own for a long time! Now I know how to motivate myself to exercise!
