Set a budget: Figuring out your spending limit will help you concentrate on must-have items. Oftentimes, general consumers are inclined to make hasty purchases solely based on savings and are left with items that collect dust in the corner of a room. Determine a tier system for your desired items and set a budget for each.

I’ve recently become obsessed with sites that sell only one item a day in limited quantities. One site I just have to check out on a daily basis is Woot. They sell lots of different items, from digital cameras to plasma TVs and occasional mystery bags where you don’t know what you’re getting. When they’re out, they’re out, and you have to wait until midnight (Central time) and see what they have then. And shipping’s always five dollars, no matter what you buy. Some items are refurbished, but most are not, and you can usually find a good deal on something cool.

If you use a Mac, check out macZOT, where they have daily limited deals on Mac shareware. Up and coming Bits du Jour works similarly.
