There are a wide variety of styles and options of messenger bags out there to choose from, but if you’re anything like me, you never leave your house without your laptop, so you’re probably looking for a bag that will keep your computer well protected.

Luckily, there are laptop messenger bags catering specifically to geek set. Some of these can get a little crazy with all their bags and pouches for all your gadgets, but personally I prefer a simpler design such as the Gander Mountain messenger bag that offers great protection for my laptop, and has enough pouches for my stuff, without overdoing it.

When I graduated college, my parents were very proud of me.  They also got me a lovely gift:  A black leather messenger bag.  When I asked what it was for, their reply was, “To help you get a job.” (They didn’t say ASAP, but I think it was implied).  We all need to carry things around when we go to work, whether it’s copies of our resume for a job interview, or an umbrella in case of rain.  For college students who are used to carrying around backpacks for all their study supplies, but who don’t want to carry a briefcase on those long bus rides to work, it’s time to graduate to a messenger bag!
